Our Sales Process: What to Expect

We are proud to be one of the largest independent pre-owned dealerships in the state. That has not always been the case.  We grew our company with the philosophy that we must deliver value to our customers, so they will keep coming back. Now, years later, our best marketing is the word of our our happy customers. Our goal is to continue to provide excellent customer service and an unmatched buying experience.

We operate a little differently than most car dealerships. Here are the steps we recommend taking when buying your next vehicle. 

Step One: Research

Your buying experience with us should start online by visiting our website. Here you will find hundreds of cars, trucks and SUVs that are all priced to market. From our website you should be able to figure out what features, colors, miles, and price point you are looking for. You will also have access to free history reports for all of our vehicles. Just click the Carfax or Autocheck report links. If you have any questions during this phase of your buying experience, just reach out to us, and we will be more than happy to answer any questions you have. 


Step Two: Visit Our Dealership

By the time you visit our dealership, we encourage you to already have an idea of what you are looking for. The reason we encourage this is because it can be intimidating to drive up to our dealership and see almost a thousand cars arrayed in front of you. Do not fret. Our front desk is here to help. Please come inside, and our receptionist will assist you in selecting vehicles you want to look at. We have computer kiosks available if you need more time in step one.

Our lot is very spread out, making walking our dealership to find a specific car a very time consuming endeavor. That is why our process brings the car to you. Tell our front desk which cars you are wanting to test drive, and we will bring up to three vehicles for you to compare side by side. This is your opportunity to test drive and check out the vehicles you are interested in. We allow you to test-drive without a sales person in the car with you because you are the one who knows what you are looking for. We feel this allows you to develop your own opinion on what you like and do not like about your potential purchase.

Step Three: Complete the Sale

Once you have chosen a car and taken it for a test drive, it is time to talk to a sales person. Do not worry. Our sales staff is not paid on vehicle sales commissions, and they only want to help you with your purchase. During this phase it is a good idea to ask questions about budget, financing, GAP, service contracts, and maintenance. Our trained staff will be able to walk you through every element and answer any questions that may come up. Remember, we are here to help you pick out the car you want,  not to sell you something you don't.

Our finance department is available to make banks compete for you. We work with dozens of banks and credit unions to get you an ultra-competitive rate on your financing. You may not be aware, but we don't do "loans."  We do "Instalment Contracts." You may be wondering what the difference is. The difference is small, but, essentially, you are contracting with us, Donohoo Auto, for your financing, and we are making an agreement with the lending company. This is a good thing for you. For example, if you bank with Wells Fargo, and you have your mortgage with Wells Fargo, and you decide to get a loan directly from them, they have the ability to pull from any of your accounts should your auto loan ever go unpaid. By using an Installment Contract, the only assets they have access to would be the car itself and not any of the other accounts you may have with the bank we decide to use.

Signing the paper work is quick and painless, and, before you know it, you will be on the road in your new car, truck, or SUV.
